Languages & Literatures Curriculum |
 |
Students who major in Romance Literatures are expected to
develop significant linguistic proficiency in both French
and Spanish. Because gaining fluency in two foreign
languages requires extensive coursework, no minor in Romance
Literatures is offered. A Study Abroad component in the
major is strongly encouraged; it allows students to complete
major requirements in a Spanish- or French-speaking country.
Careful planning of the major can lead to a full year
abroad, with one semester in a Spanish-speaking country and
a second semester in a French-speaking country. The Senior
Paper or Thesis consists of a comparative literary study
involving both languages, and written in Spanish or French. |
